Made a photo book recently using Blurb The subject of the Book was Ballinrea House, a farm in the south of cork. I made the book for a friend who lived here and wanted something to reminder her of the time she spent growing up on the farm. Most of it was shot in the summer, a few in winter. warning there is no surf in this book….. booooooo
Had a good surf the other day, it was small but had a bit of a punch to it! A friend of mine, Shane got out of the water early to get a few snaps. Its rare that I ever get any shots of myself surfing so was dead happy to see these!
Got this from their site…….
In snow, in surf, in music – indeed, in life – the same rules apply, the rules of engagement, the rules of mind, body and soul, the ‘Rules of Art’. There are no easy rides. Suffering goes with the territory, with the terrain, and those who want it most must accept the rules. They must bear the deepest scars. And they know it, too. They accept it. They are scars that look different but feel the same, a burden they willingly bear, the gates of hell carried on their backs.
The snowboarder, the surfer, the musician, each is the master of his own realm, but they are all just Artists, men driven to extremes, consumed by that singular desire to leave their mark on the world, to carve their own scars deep into its skin.
Lives of the Artists is about those people. To most, they are different men of different ages from different walks of life. But look past the surface details, look closer, and you’ll see the same thing. You’ll see that they’re not so different after all.
Got these shot from veronica in Sweden, there of my nephew on his first day out skiing last week! He is nearly two year old…………………. what a ripper!! Steve and Veronica were just showing him the ropes!
Here are a few shots taken around Dingle last summer. First one of an old off licence/sitting room! Second a disused boat that has been put to great use as a flower pot!. Next is the view up Green st to the main church. Last is the view underwater of a clear summers day…….. will have to get some gritty winter ones together now!
