The Big Thaw

Well at least it getting a bit warmer! Had a trip up north recently, waves were not 2 bad, pretty crowded thou. I surfed all day so for my final session i decided to just take a few shots from the water for the second as it was pretty busy. Light was getting worse and worse and swell was just starting to pump ‘murphys law’! Got a few wee snaps before the sun dropped though. here they are Roll on the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Heavy snowfall affecting the south of the country in particular, though conditions remain very poor around Connaught and in Leinster. Drive with extreme care, particularly on secondary routes. • Be aware that some roads surfaces are being treated with a salt/grit mix. Therefore there may be loose material and debris on the roads. •CORK AIRPORT• Due to the weather conditions Cork Airport is closed until 9pm approx. Check with your flight provider before setting off. *IRISH RAIL* From tomorrow there will be alterations to some Waterford/Heuston and Galway/Heuston services. See www.irishrail.ie for more. *MUNSTER* Snow is affecting all counties in Munster this evening. *KERRY* Heavy snow has been falling in Kerry. Gardai are advising against any unnecessary journeys in Milltown, Killorglin, Killarney, Fenit and Tralee. • The N70 Tralee/Castlemaine Rd is impassable at Skahanagh Cross. • Conor Pass is closed.

*CORK* Snow and ice on most secondary routes. Gardai are asking drivers to avoid any unnecessary journeys. • The Kanturk to Feales Bridge Rd (R576) via Rockchapel is extremely icy. • Snow and Ice on all roads around Macroom, particularly on the Milstreet Rd (R582) & the Ballyvourney/Clondrohid Rd. • Treacherous conditions on the N20 Cork/Mallow Rd at Rathduff. Rathduff village is almost impassable. *WATERFORD* Snowing on all routes, avoid unnecessary journeys. Particularly icy on the Kilmeadan/Kill Rd (R681). *LIMERICK* Very bad road conditions in the Bruff area, with Gardai asking motorists to stay off the road. *CLARE* Main St Killaloe is closed due to road conditions. Hill St should also be avoided. Gardai warning motorists of a severely icy bend on the Bodyke Ennis Rd (R352). • Very icy on the N67 Dunbeg/Kilrush Rd and on the N68 Kilrush/Ennis Rd. Corkscrew Hill in Ennistymon and the Doolin/Ennistymon Rd.

*TIPPERARY* Icy conditions on the N7 Dublin/ Limerick Rd and N62 via Roscrea. • Stay in left lane from the Horse & Jockey as far Urlingford on the M8 due to treacherous conditions. • Avoid the Newport to Killoscully Rd. *LEINSTER* *KILDARE* Slushy conditions on all routes. • Use the left lane of the M7 between J13 Kildare and J17 Portlaoise. • Take care over the Hill of Allen and the Hill at Kilmeague (R415). *CARLOW/KILDARE* Poor conditions on the M9 between Carlow & Kilcullen, with traffic down to one lane both ways at Kilcullen. *MEATH* Slushy conditions around Dunshaughlin, Trim, Slane and Navan. Slippery on the N2 Dublin/Monaghan Rd via Ashbourne. *LAOIS* Conditions poor around the county, especially around Portlaoise. *WICKLOW* Icy in parts of the N11 particularly between the Glen of the Downs and Enniscorthy – Use the left lane. • Continue to avoid higher ground and mountain passes. *WEXFORD* Care is needed around Gorey and Enniscorthy

*KILKENNY* Slippery on bridges around Thomastown and on the Freshford/Kilkenny Rd (R693). Bad conditions on the Mullinavat/Castlebanny Rd. *ULSTER* *DONEGAL* Extremely icy travelling from Dungloe to Letterkenny. The N56 Falcarragh Rd is very icy but may be a better alternative to the Fintown Rd (R250). *CAVAN* Care is needed on the Virginia, Cootehill, Shercock, Kingscourt & Mullagh Rds out of Baileborough. *CONNAUGHT* *ROSCOMMON* • Icy on the Boyle/Frenchpark Rd (R361) & Boyle/Gurteen Rd (R294). *MAYO* Poor driving conditions around Castlebar, Swinford, Westport and Ballina. Ice & compacted snow on the Westport/Louisburgh Rd (R335). *GALWAY: Icy on all routes in the county, particularly on the N65 through Portumna. Reduce speed as not all roads have been gritted.

Everyone should watch TED, Ideas worth Spreading!

I have been watching this site for a few years now and said I would spread the word of TED if you haven’t heard it already! TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. This is nutrition for the brain! Dont spend anymore time on facebook, watch some videos on TED and be amazed with the content!

Happy new year!! only 5 days late!

Happy new year to everyone! Sorry about the late wishes, I have been down in Kerry with no internet, no power on occasion and surrounded by screaming babies, all fun! Sean and eithne

I had a great Xmass. This was the first Xmass to have all the family back home in a long long time!! Here is Granny and Grandad Lordan holding some of the new arrivals.
